New Delhi: The government had conducted a survey of drinking water quality in cities in 2023, but in March 2025, the report or rankings were not released after canceling the schedule to honor the best artists, which is fine from the last Lok Sabha elections. In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said that Ipsos Research Private Limited, an agency, was released at a cost of Rs 16.96 crore “at a cost of Rs 16.96 crore to conduct a water survey in 485 immortal cities during 2022-23.Responding to whether the survey findings have been released and the government has analyzed the report for corrective measures, the ministry said, “States/center areas were informed in the workshop held on 22 November in New Delhi. During the workshop, discussion was held and states/UT advised to take corrective measures “.The ministry that does not release the findings of the survey remains a mystery, given that the government holds similar survey in areas to ensure “healthy competition” between states and cities.Interestingly, on February 27, 2024 of the workshop with states and UTS, the Ministry issued a detailed press release, which announced that on March 5 “First Pay JL Survey Award” would be held, which was set to preside over the President Drupadi Murmu program. It states that cities and states will be honored for excellence in the water sector. In all, 130 awards were to be given best, which shows the achievements of cities and states under various categories: gold, silver and bronze.
