A 79 -year -old Florida man was found dead on Friday morning after the disappearance of Mount Washington’s peak at New Hampshire, the state fish and sports department confirmed in a social media post.
Officials said that the search crew had located the body of William Davis after a difficult three -day operation that included helicopters, drones and dozens of ground personnel, which was with the New England Summer Tourist Destination.
The department said, “This is a tragic end for a difficult discovery mission and the fish and sports department would like to thank all the volunteers and employees who tirelessly tried to bring Davis back to his family,” the department said. Facebook post,

At some point, Davis made a brief contact with a state park employee by a cellphone. He reported to be off-tril and described his surroundings, but could not explain his place. His phone died during the call. The search teams were informed immediately after 6 pm and started searching for him that evening.
The crew initially focused on the western part of the summit. Fish and sports officers, park staff, and volunteers of Androscin Valley Search and Rescue used drone and ground teams to find the area on Thursday morning.
According to officials, fog and air slowed down progress and no indication of Davis.
On Friday morning, the search teams shifted their attention to the eastern and southern slopes of the mountain. The weather conditions had deteriorated. Rain, clouds, and high winds went inside. The temperature hovered in the low 40s, and the air cold reading fell near the cold.

A black hawk helicopter crew of the New Hampshire Army National Guard was operating a training mission near the pass and was able to assist in recovery efforts during a short break in the season, the officials said.
A corpse examination is pending in the state medical examiner. Officials have not determined how Davis ended in the remote field where it was found.
