Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday that before 2017, Uttar Pradesh had only four ‘poor-equipped’ forensic labs, while currently 12 modern laboratories have been established across the state and six more under construction.

Adityanath inaugurated the three -day International Summit on the dimensions of cyber war, multilateral legal structure, forensic, and strategic counselors, which were held on the third Foundation Day of Uttar Pradesh State Institute in Lucknow.
He further stated that mobile forensic units have been deployed in all 75 districts, and cyber police stations have been set up across the state. Additionally, the cyber help desk has also been opened in 1,587 police stations, where cases are being resolved with the support of master trainers.
The Chief Minister said that since 2017, forensic evidence has become mandatory in solving every crime.
He said, “Since July 2024, forensic evidence has become mandatory in all cases punishing more than seven years,” he said that the UP Police has taken steps to set up a cyber headquarters to compete effectively cybercrime.
He further claimed that, unlike the situation before 2017, when it used to take years of time for criminals to nab, the Uttar Pradesh Police now does wrong work within 24 to 48 hours, which is assisted by technology and forensic science.
Earlier, the Chief Minister, Padma Shri Dr. Lalji Singh inaugurated Advanced DNA Diagnostic Center, AI, Drone and Robotics Lab and Atal Library. He also distributed smart tablets to the students and flagged 75 mobile forensic vans.
Referring to the successful use of technology in organizing Maha Kumbh, Adityanath said that the Uttar Pradesh Police has changed its work style, ensuring that no criminal can escape the law.
He credited this progress for the dedication of the police force and adopting advanced technical measures.
