Washington – The US Air Force said on Thursday that it would deny all the transgender service members who have served between 15 and 18 years, which is the option to retire early and instead will separate them without the benefits of retirement.
The move means that the members of the transgender service will now be removed from separate payments or service to junior soldiers. Roots First reported Decision.
An Air Force spokesperson said that “although 15 to 18 -year honorable service members were allowed to apply for the exception of policy, none of the exceptions to the policy was approved.” According to the spokesperson, about a dozen service members were “informed prematurely” that they would be able to retire before reversing that decision.
Officials say the initial retirement benefits are rare for people aged 15 to 18 in service, but these service members are being forced to retire early.
All transgender members of the Air Force are being separated from service under the policies of the Trump administration.
