“My sister was amazing. Really smart, love, funny – although I would never call her.”
These are the words of Zain, brother of Alia Mahomid.
On 18 March, Ms. Mahomad, from Micham, South London, was killed by a van, who was left through the closed gates and hit the bench that he was sitting in a pedestrian area outside the Kings College London (KCL) on the strand.
He was declared dead on 18 March 2025 in a collision scene, injuring three others.
The Metropolitan police said a 26 -year -old man was arrested on suspicion of suspicion of death due to dangerous driving death and serious injury to dangerous driving, and remained on bail.
Ms. Mahomad was studying for BSc in Physics and Darshan in KCL in her second year.
On Thursday, around 40 friends, family members and KCL people gathered to pay homage to the student, who were also honored earlier in the day at a graduate ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall at South Bank in London.
Mr. Mahomid and his mother Sameera Shafi collected him posthumously.
“If I am getting honest, I wish I could say that I am happy at the ceremony today, but it was painful, he was receiving his award there. He was hurt as much as he was hurt, it was really well handled,” he said.
Many people were wearing green clothes, her favorite color, and her eyes closed or bowed their heads.

The family told BBC London that he started a project to build a high school in Malawi, called B Moriya, where he has its roots.
Joseph Knight, a close friend of Ms. Mahomad, was sitting on a bench next to her when she was hitting the van. He was not injured and said that he came in the decision to sit on the left or right.
He told BBC London: “It was an emotional day, Bitwatch. It just thinks what can happen, all his dreams can be ruined.
“It is difficult for everyone here, we are suffering from sorrow.”
He said: “He burnt a room with his smile, laughed him. He looked for light in everyone and was really remembered.”
A good friend Bianka Godinho also said, “She was really funny, it was a light. The strength shown by her mother and brother is incredible.”
Another close friend, Iman Khan told BBC London: “We shared a lot of memories together. She was very loyal, she was always for me – right friend.”
During the remembrance for Ms. Mahomad, Solicitor Trever Sterling gave the family to the family for justice.
He said: “We need to ensure that we get justice without delay, and that the correct level of justice is achieved, the correct allegations are brought, and only then the family will be able to move forward.”
He said that there was frustration on the fact that no allegations were brought after about five months.
Mr. Sterling said: “The wheels of justice are slow, and essentially disappointment. Family and affected people are patients.”
Thomas Notton, a supta of the Met Police, said, “Alia’s family is supported by expert authorities, we meet with them to discuss the progress of regular investigation and to ensure that they are receiving the necessary support to them.
“Our investigation continues in pace and we are working closely with the Crown Prosecution Service.”
