Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday congratulated BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy for winning the election for an important post in the Constitution Club of India. The Congress MP joined hands with the BJP MP outside Parliament, calling it “an unusual handshake”.
Five -time MP from Bihar, Rudy won the Constitution Club election for the post of Secretary (Administration) last week. Rudy defeated BJP leader and former Union Minister Sanjeev Balan to defeat the post.
Talking with reporters outside Parliament, Rahul congratulated Rudy and joined hands with the BJP MP. The Wayanad MP told Rudy, “An unusual hand join between the BJP.
Rudy, who has been at the top of the club for more than two decades, won 391 votes against 291 votes of Balyan. The club has 1200 members, out of which 707 members cast their votes.
These included Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, PA President Sonia Gandhi and other Union Ministers.
Hands were shaken in a day when anarchy was detected in Parliament, Union Home Minister Amit Shah sprinkled three bills. These include the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill and Union Region Government (Amendment) Bills.
Bills propose that a sitting minister, Chief Minister, or even the Prime Minister can be removed from his position within a month if he is arrested or detained for a direct crime for 30 days, which takes the jail duration for five years or more.
The bills will introduce a new legal structure that will apply to ministers and CMS in states and centers like Jammu and Kashmir, and PM at Union Ministers and Center.
The bills were opposed by the opposition, including AIMIM President Asaduddin Owissi, after which the Lok Sabha Speaker postponed the proceedings till 3 pm.
