Chinese Ambassador to India Joo Fihong said on Thursday that China’s visit to China for the SCO summit at the end of this month will be “very important”, not only for the summit, but also for bilateral relations between the two countries.
He said that China attaches “great importance” to the Prime Minister’s visit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin on 31 August and 1 September.
Fiyhong told reporters, “Prime Minister Modi’s visit to China will be a very important event not only for SCO but also for bilateral relations between the two countries. A working group of China and India is preparing to make this visit a success. We give great importance in this journey.”
Earlier this week, he also mentioned the results of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to India for news agency ANI.
Wang Yi co-presumed the 24th round of dialogue of special representatives on the border question between India and China on August 19 with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. He also held bilateral talks with the Foreign Minister’s Jaishankar.
The Chinese Foreign Minister called Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on 19 August.
“This time, during India’s Chinese FM visit, he was very important with Mr. Doval on his boundary issue. They reached a consensus on 10 points. Two groups will be established by both our parties on the issue of limits. A group will be for limit and limit to limit. The second group will focus on limit and limit management.”
Fehong further said that the issue of border should not define relations between India and China, saying that the border issue is one side, and cooperation between nations is on another.
In a post X, the ambassador highlighted 10 points of consensus from the 24th round of talks between China and India’s special representatives on the border question.
Fihong said that both sides spoke positively about the progress made in implementing the important leader-level general consensus in Kazan.
He said, “The two sides reiterated the importance of maintaining peace and peace in the border areas, to promote the overall development of China-India bilateral relations, insisted on handling the issue properly through friendly counseling,” he said.
He said, “In 2005, the China-India border for disposal of the border question and agreed to take the need to take a political outlook of overall bilateral relations, seeking a fair, appropriate and mutually acceptable framework for the disposal of the border question on political parameters and guiding principles.”
Both sides also agreed to set up a work group to carry forward effective border management to maintain peace in border areas, he said.
He said, “In addition to the existing general-level mechanisms in the western region, agreed to form a general-level mechanism in the eastern and central regions, and held the next round of the general-level meeting in the western region on an early date.”
Fihong said that the two sides also agreed to attach the boundary management mechanisms at both diplomatic and military levels.
The Chinese ambassador stated that the two sides exchanged views on the cooperation of the Trans-Border rivers and agreed to keep the role of China-India specialist level mechanisms on the trans-body rivers full sports and keeping communication on the renewal of the relevant memorandum.
“Three traditional border traditional business markets agreed to reopen the markets, namely Renkinging-Chaggu, Pulon-Gunji and Jua-Namgi. In 2026, agreed to the 25th round of SR talks in China.”
