New Delhi: The Election Commission on Wednesday issued a notice to Muzaffarpur Mayor Nirmala Devi for allegedly keeping two voter ID cards.A few hours after the allegations of Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashvi Yadav, the pole body sought clarification from Nirmala Devi till 16 August.
“It has come to notice in relation to the above topic that during special intensive amendment, 2025, your name has been recorded in booth number 153, serial number 664, epic number Rem1251917, as well as booth number 257, serial number 618, Draft in Draft Electoral Roll in Epic Number 61835164.”“It has also been found that even before the special intensive amendment, your name was recorded at both places. Therefore, in relation to the above case, you are politely requested that you present your statement/explanation 16.08.2025, 5:00 pm, without failure, so that further action can be taken.”This has come to light when Tejashvi accused the two election photo identity card (epic) numbers on the pole body of conspiring to manipulate Bihar’s voter list by releasing the leaders and workers of the Bharat Janata Party.“Before we talk about Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha.“We are revealing another thing. A BJP leader, the mayor of Panchifapur, named Nirmala Devi, has two epic IDs in the same assembly. In this too, they are different. They are different. Not only this, but Nirmala Devi has two siblings, she also has two epic numbers,” he said.Earlier, the Election Commission had issued a notice to Bihar vice -president Vijay Kumar Sinha for allegedly keeping two voter cards and being registered as an electoral at two places. In a letter to the Deputy CM on Sunday, the Election Registration Officer (ERO) for the Bankipur Assembly Constitution sought Sinha’s response to “holding one voter and two ID cards in two separate assembly constituencies”.The performance between ECI and Tejashvi Yadav began when he first alleged that his name was absent from the new draft voter list on August 1, and later claimed that his epic number was replaced. However, the Election Commission dismissed these claims, stating that a detailed verification showed its name listed in Serial No. 416 of Polling Station 204 at Library Building of Bihar Animal Science University. The Election Commission claimed that the epic showed the media during the press conference by the epic, “fake”. The pole body has asked him to present it in the office by 16 August. The Patna Election Officer said in a letter to Yadav, “It seems that the epic displayed during a press conference is fake. Creating and using false government documents is a legal offense. You seem to be requested to present false epics in our office till 5 pm on August 16.”
