The Kerala Police on Sunday arrested an unmarried couple, who was living together for alleged involvement in the death of two of their newborns.
The news agency PTI said that the male partner, 25 -year -old, Bawin went with a bag at Pudukad police station in Thrissur, claiming that it included the remains of the skeletal of two newborns.
Police said Bawin was allegedly intoxicated when he reached the police station at 12.30 pm, the police said.
Subsequently, the Kerala Police started an investigation and took Bawin and his companions, Anisha, 23, a lab technician into custody. The forensic surgeon examined the bones and Prima Facial verified him as newborns, the Indian Express quoted Trris Rural SP B Krishna Kumar.
Kumar said that a detailed examination of remains will be conducted as part of the investigation. The accused couple allegedly befriended each other in 2020 via social media and planned to marry.
While Bawin remains silent about the deaths till now, her stressful relationship with Anisha, who suspected of having a relationship, inspired the police to reveal the incidents.

Thrissur Rural SP Kumar said that while handing over the bag to the police, Bawin claimed that the bones were placed to perform rituals so that the souls of newborns could attain salvation.
Police said the first child was born in November 2021. During the initial interrogation, the woman told the police that the first child died due to being tied around her neck during birth naturally due to umbilical cord.
However, Anisha later admitted that the newborn was suffocated shortly after birth, buried in a plot near the house near the body where couples lived.
Eight months later, the woman allegedly dug the pit and handed over the remains of the skeleton to Bawin, the Indian Express quoted the police.
Police said Anisha admitted to killing another child born in August 2024. The newborn was buried in the same way, in a different place, the police said.
The police is also investigating whether the woman’s family knew about conception and births.
