New Delhi: Pending matters before the judiciary cannot be discussed on the floor of the House, the government on Wednesday insisted in the Lok Sabha in response to the continuous demand of opposition parties to discuss Sir practice in Bihar.Addressing the House, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijuju said that the functioning of autonomous institutions like Election Commission cannot be discussed in Parliament. Rijiju cited the 1988 decision by LS Speaker Bal Ram Jhakar in 1988 that under the current constitutional provisions, the House could not comment on the works of EC. He said, “On the issue of special intensive amendment of electoral rolls in Bihar, for which they (opposition members) are harassing the House from the first day of the session, we all know that the matter is in the view of SC and thus it is the Deputy Chairman, and therefore, the subject cannot be discussed,” he said.
