New Delhi: The Supreme Court has been scheduled to file a recommendation recommended by the Supreme Court on 28 July on the petition filed by Justice Yashwant Verma of Allahabad High Court, recommendations of the recommendations of the three-judge in-house inquiry committee and the recommendation recommended by former Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna.Justice Verma has alleged that the committee was denied “appropriate opportunity” to respond to the allegations before the committee finished its report. The dispute arises from an incident on March 14, when his residence in Delhi caught fire – where he then served as a judge of the Delhi High Court. Fire personnel allegedly discovered large amounts of cash on the site. Justice Verma was not present at the time of the incident.Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday confirmed that the Lok Sabha would take a bilateral proposal to remove Varma after a consensus between political parties. Rijiju said that 152 MPs from both the ruling coalition and the opposition have signed the proposal, and the matter will proceed as per the Judges (Inquiry) Act.Rijiju said, “This was a unanimous decision by all the parties. The proposal will be taken first in the Lok Sabha and then will go to the Rajya Sabha,” Rijiju said, emphasizing unity against the alleged judicial corruption.“We should not remain in any doubt, the proceedings will begin in the Lok Sabha,” he said.
