The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday informed the Madurai Peeth of the Madras High Court that it had filed a charge sheet in the case of the custodial death of Ajit Kumar, a temple guard, Ajit Kumar in Shivganga district on 29 June.
The charge sheet was filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Madurai, presented by the authorities in the court. A bench of Justices SM Subramaniam and G Arul Murugan asked the CBI to file a status report on 24 September. The details of the content of the charge sheet and the name which has been named, has not yet been revealed in that case which causes political grab in the state.
Five policemen (S Raja, Ek Anand, S Shankaramanikandan, G. Kannan) were suspended on the death of the security guard and was later arrested soon after the authorities received a post -mortem report. This showed that the temple guard had suffered several injuries, including fusion on his head and chest.
Police on June 27, after registering a complaint to a woman, picked up Kumar for questioning, stating that 10 sovereign of gold jewelery kept in a bag went missing when he gave Kumar his key to park his car near Madapuram Bhadrakali Amman Temple. The victim’s brother Naveen Kumar alleged that the police beat him while taking him to different places. After complaining of inconvenience, Ajit was declared dead after being taken to a hospital on 29 June.
An eyewitness was added to the allegations of police vandalism. On Tuesday, a video of a 31-second video was beaten by a policeman on the floor in the temple premises on social media and beaten by a policeman in a plain.
The Division Bench had earlier overshadowed the state government for the barbarity of the police, stating that the action taken so far was not with the gravity of the incident.
