TippingIn their brain, some different things can do or show, and for many people it depends on the situation. Some see this as a way to show praise or help people compensate for services. (Old Americans had a little more likely to say this, because there were people who said that they work in a job where this can be expected.)
But there are other people who usually see it as an additional cost, from which they make additional payments.
When people thought it was becoming more prevalent, some of them thought it was a good thing.
This can be at least partially a function of the fact that in recent years, in many other elections and in many income levels, Americans have said that prices and costs had become a concern.
The CBS News/YouGov Survey 23-28, 2025 July, 2025 was conducted with representative samples of 2,443 American adults interviewed between 2025 July 2025. This sample was weighed as representatives of adults according to gender, age, breed and education based on the US Census US Community Survey and current population survey. The margin of the error is ± 2.4 digits.
