A Chicago pastor, known for his unconventional forms of activism, is taking the next step in an attempt to inspire the youth of the country.
Priest Corey BruxKnown as “Rooftop Pastor”, this September is preparing to walk 3,000 miles from New York to Los Angeles. He said that his goal is to raise awareness and money for community development in Chicago, and is for the youth across the country.
Brooks told “Fox and Friends” on Tuesday, “Our country is away from God, our families and communities have gone away from God, and we need a spiritual awakening in America.”
“This is the only reason I am walking across America, to tell them hope for people in cities and suburbs and rural areas to tell them that we can change things.”

Brooks attracted national attention in 2011 when they spent 94 days living on the roof of Randdown Chicago Motal for opposing violence and death of young people in their community. The pastor set a target to raise money to demolish the abandoned motal, which he said that he had become a center for drugs and crime.
This performance was a success and led to the installation of Project Hood, a non-profit that aims to help risky youth to avoid poverty and violence. The organization’s website says that it provides mentorship, training and community assistance to local residents.
“In Chicago, we have taken one of the most dangerous neighborhoods across the US, and we have changed it,” Brooks said by Brooks of his previous work.

Now, he wants his latest mission, which was called “Walk Across America”, so that he could help more young people. The travel aim is to raise a private donation of $ 25 million, which is a loan-free, to end the 90,000 square-foot leadership and economic opportunity in Chicago. Brooks said that he wishes to spread project hoods across the country.
Brooks said, “We have a school. Our goal is to set up project hoods across the country.”
“That’s why we are running to raise these funds. It is not just about raising money, but it is a walk about increasing merit.”
A bold step to protect Chicago youth from leftist dependence
Brooks said the effort has already received support from private citizens, business leaders and donors.
“We are building a center of 90,000 square feet. And it is because of this [the] American people and [the] Fox Network, “he said, thanked those who have already supported their walk.
Brooks said that he hopes that his walk will teach others that trust and hard work can help people to do great work.
“I really believe that America still works,” he said. “When we have faith and hard work and vision active, we can do anything in America.”
