The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which has occupied the security of the Parliament complex, would be permanently posted, the authorities informed the matter that it would be on the lines of earlier clock and ward staff, which had been posted in the premises for years and became known faces.
This safety equipment will be different from one adopted by CISF at airports and metro stations, where duty roster changes every day. Officials said this step will ensure CISF personnel on duty in various areas within the Parliament complex, who would become known faces for MPs, and avoid controversies such as recently seen in the House.
Last week, during the ongoing monsoon session, the government and the opposition closed the horns at the presence of CISF in the Parliament complex. In the Rajya Sabha, Congress President and Leader of Opposition Mallikrajun Kharge complained to Vice President Harivansh about the presence of CISF personnel inside the House. However, the government said that the new marshal (unarmed) of CISF is under the same rules under the same rules.
Since the onset of the ongoing session, CISF personnel have also been posted as martials (earlier from Marshalls Parliamentary Security Service Watch and Ward Staff).
An official said that the employees of the earlier watch and ward, who were not from any paramilitary force or police, have been nominated for non-protection duties within the Parliament complex. He had been working within Parliament for many years and was known to political leaders.
“Due to the recent controversy, it has been decided that the same team has been posted at the same place for a long time. Ward and ward staff personnel of Parliamentary Security Services (PSS) were permanently posted, for a few decades. It was recognized by all MPs and the issue was never raised.
“Unlike the security situation in the airport or metro, where the personnel are replaced regularly, every day Parliament has the same faces and during each session will ensure that they are recognized and no problem,” the official said.
About 2,500 CISF personnel have been posted within the campus, including two units of the fire unit. “The duties of personnel in the main gates and periphery can be changed regularly, but people working in a court hall or as martial will not be replaced. These are those who regularly interact with leaders. This is the best way to get acquainted with any illusion.
The Parliament Security, which was previously handed over jointly by CRPF, PSS and Delhi Police, was handed over to CISG against the backdrop of a large -scale security violations reported on 13 December 2023 in January last year at the High Security Complex.
