Ahmedabad has emerged as the safest city in India in 2025, one in 12 in 12 in the latest 2025 Numbo Crime Index Global crowd-database. With a security index score of 68.6, Ahmedabad ranks 77th out of 279 cities globally, which tops the list between Indian cities.The 2025 index by Numbeo evaluates cities based on the perception of crimes, security during day and night, and survey responses related to property and violent offenses related to crimes.AFor the list, Jaipur chased Ahmedabad with a global rank of 96 (Safety Index: 65.2), while Coimbatore came to 112 (Security Index: 62.0). Chennai (123), Pune (129), and Hyderabad (139) were also depicted in the top half of the ranking.

The United Arab Emirates also ranked behind Andora, as the second safest country, which was at the top.Numbeo’s safety index is calculated based on surveys presented by the user on its website, which collect public perceptions on various security-related aspects. These include the overall level of crime, how safe people people feel at day and night, and alleged risk of specific crimes such as theft, attacks, barbarism and hatred-inspired events. A high security index indicates a high sense of less perceived crime and security, which makes an important indicator for residents, tourists and policy makers when assessing the city’s safety.
