Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department head Pamela Smith is facing backlash and mockry on social media, when she does not understand a question from the media about the department’s “chain of command”, amidst the recent federalization of President Donald Trump’s department.
“Can you tell us what is the range of command now?” A reporter was heard asking Smith during a press conference on Tuesday morning.
“What does it mean?” The police chief replied.
“Okay, is it talking to the mayor? How are you? How does it work?” The reporter continued, before Busar on Monday called Section 740 of the Columbia Home Rule Act, to interpret the command of the department after Trump, which allows the President to handle the emergency control of the police force of the capital.
