The Colombia district on Friday sued the Trump Administration and Attorney General Palm Bondi to try to limit cooperation between the DC police and federal immigration officers during the acquisition of the police force of the district between the Trump administration and federal immigration officers.
From the efforts of the Trump administration to eliminate policies, “under the control of the federal government, for all purposes, for all purposes, for all purposes, represents an effort to divide the district and its inhabitants of any control of its local police force,” written by DC Attorney General Brian Shwalab. Complaint,
Bondi’s order End Local instructions came on Thursday night and the “sanctuary” policies in the country’s capital were widely reversed. This allowed the metropolitan police department to at least temporarily, immigration and customs enforcement and other immigration officers to fully collaborate with federal agents. The Attorney General said that she was naming the current head of DEA Terry Cole as Emergency Police Head in Washington. He cited Shri Trump’s emergency announcement to reverse several local police policies.
The DC Attorney General is asking a federal judge to vacate Bandy’s order and is announced that the US Attorney General lacks the right to issue orders to order “operational control” order against the police department of the district.
“These illegal claims of the authority will cause immediate, disastrous and irreparable losses for the district. Most seriously, the order has been threatened with an order to increase the command structure of MPD and wreak havoc within the department, which threatens the safety of public and law enforcement officers.” “There is no major risk for public safety in a large, professional law enforcement organization like MPD, does not know who is in the command.”
Bondi canceled Guidance issued by DC Police Chief Pamela Smith on Thursday allowed police officers to transport ice agents and their prisoners and share immigration information during traffic stops, but it still prevents most local participation in federal immigration enforcement.
The Attorney General also removed the guidance, which stopped the DC police officers from searching the database for the purposes to determine the immigration situation, even when there is no underlying criminal warrant.
He also suspended the rules that stopped the DC Police from arresting the individuals on the basis of the administrative immigration warrant signed by the ICE officials – not from the judges – and assisting federal agents during such arrest. The rescue policy requires necessary officers for a criminal nexus before making a arrest, which completely prevents arrest based on the violation of the suspected citizen immigration law.
Bondi’s efforts to end MPD policies fought with 2020 laws in the district, which gave the local police independent rights from immigration officers. In June, the DC Council reduced the efforts of Mayor Muril Boseer to cancel the situation of the sanctuary city in the 2026 budget bill.
