The Mayor of Louisville, Kentaki on Monday informed the Department of Justice (DOJ) that it was transferring the city’s more restrictive policy on federal immigration prisoners after the government warned.
Mayor Craig Greenberg, a Democrat, wrote in a letter received by Fox News Digital that the policy change was partially to avoid being targeted as the city, a word that is used to describe courts with police on obstacles with federal immigration enforcement.
“My understanding is that, returning to our former-2017 practices and re-honoring the 48-hour prisoners, causing the functionally extended from 5-12 hours to DHS from 5–12 hours to 48 hours, Luisville will no longer be considered a sanctuary jurisdiction and as a result, the negative consequences of this designation will not be stunned.” “The city, therefore, will adjust its detained policy to avoid litigation on the DOJ’s federal premission allegations.”

After warning the DOJ in a letter last month, the Mayor’s upsurge comes that the policy of custody of Louisville hurrics the Trump administration’s ability to crack the immigration there. DOJ reported that Greenburg non-non-non-non-non-non-compliance states and cities have faced legal action and freeze on federal funds.

Detention policies are one of the most common reasons that cities are designated as sanctuaries for illegal migrants.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) uses detention forms to inform jails that federal authorities have identified a potential illegal immigrant in local custody who wants to detain the ICE. The sanctuary courts have policies to ignore those notices.
In the case of Louisville, the Louisville Metro Department of Karshes was not honored for the 48-hour period requested to catch the suspects, freeing the suspects from custody, before the snow could arrest them.
The revelation of Louisville’s policy change was mentioned in an X post on Tuesday morning by Attorney General Palm Bondi that the city was “leaving the policies of its sanctuary city,” although he did not mention the details.

“It should set an example for other cities,” Bondi said. “Instead of forcing us to sue you – which we will follow the law without any hesitation, get rid of sanctuary policies, and work with us to fix illegal immigration crisis.”
The DOJ has also brought immigration related cases to New York, Chicago, Colorado and other places, although judges have not weighed the qualities of government arguments at this stage of litigation.
