Amidst the intensive political row in West Bengal on the gang rape of a law student in Kolkata, the BJP has demanded the “immediate resignation” of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that the ruling Trinumool Congress (TMC) has accused a woman to save a woman in such cases continuously in such cases.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh said, “Despite being a woman Chief Minister, West Bengal has become rank 1 in exploitation and atrocities against women. It is every time that the accused is a member of TMC. TMC always tries to save the accused.

Meanwhile, a four-member facts of BJP left for Kolkata on Monday morning to see the alleged gang rape of a law student at South Calcutta Law College. The aim of the team is to review the law and order situation in West Bengal.
The committee consists of former Union Ministers Satpal Singh and Meenakshi Leki, Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb and Rajya Sabha MP Manan Kumar Mishra.
Talking to ANI, Satpal Singh said that the team will interact with all the parties concerned and try to meet the family of the survivor. He also hoped that Mamta Banerjee would allow the delegation to visit all relevant places.
The incident took place on June 25 at the government-run South Calcutta Law College, where four persons and three accused have been arrested.
The Kolkata Police has formed a five -member Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police (South Suburban Division) Pradeep Ghoshal to investigate the incident. SIT is expected to record confidential statements of Survivor and his parents.

TMC issues show notice to MLA Madan Mitra
The Trinamool Congress on Sunday issued a reason notice to party MLA Madan Mitra, called “unwanted, unnecessary and insensitive comments” about the alleged gang rape of a law student in Kolkata.
The notice signed by TMC state president and Rajya Sabha MP Subrata Bakshi accused the Kamarhati MLA of violating party discipline and asked him to present an explanation within three days.
“A very heinous and extremely tragic event has taken place against a law student in Kolkata city. The top leadership of the party has expressed special grief over this very sensitive incident of sad and brutal torture and strongly condemned the incident. The administration is taking necessary action. The misconduct has been identified and immediately arrested,” the letter said.
It further said, “Your unwanted, unnecessary and insensitive comments on 28 June 2025 hurt our party’s image in every way. At the same time, your comments have gone against the strict standing stand. You have been ordered to show the reason for this behavior of party discipline within the next three days.”
The controversy began after the dispute that the comment was given as the victim-dosha, suggesting that the survivor could be avoided.
