The Department of Justice (DOJ) has been authorized to search for a death sentence in a case against Teresa Youngblob, on January 20, the woman shot the accused, who killed the US border patrol agent David Maland.
A federal grand jury on Thursday returned a four-count prosecution against 21-year-old Youngbrelage, with a deadly weapon and related gun crimes with two other agents, along with Maland’s murder.
The agency said Attorney General Pamela Bondi formally authorized the discovery of capital punishment, and the acting US Attorney for the Vermont district filed a notice of intention to seek the death sentence in the case, the agency said on Thursday.

According to court documents, the new prosecution underlines additional details about the leading hours for shooting of January 20 in Covantry, Vermont.

During the stop with the interstate 91, the two suspects were allegedly armed, and prosecutors alleged that Youngblobs took out the pair’s Toyota Prius and set fire on fire without any warning, killed Maland and put two other agents in danger.

Following the decision to rapidly track the death sentence of Youngblob’s death, his lawyers accused the DOJ’s timeline of being “unprecedentedly tight” and warned that it could provide a “a close-pointed formality” to the pre-priest process.
Pratiel Motion of July 30 said, “This court should take steps to ensure that Ms. Youngblavan has a meaningful opportunity to convince the government not to carry forward the death sentence.”
Raksha told the court that it was asked to extend the time limit to January 30, 2026, denying the process of young at the current pace.
