Former South Korea’s first woman has been arrested on a link to allegations including stock manipulation and bribe.
The 52 -year -old Kim Kane denied all the allegations against him during a court hearing on Tuesday, which lasted for four hours. The Seoul Court issued a warrant to detain him late during the day, which cited the risk that she could otherwise destroy the evidence.
This is the first time in the history of South Korea that a former President and her husband are in jail at the same time.
Kim’s husband, former President Yun Suk Yeol was first detained to prosecute a failed martial law dialect last year, who drowned the country in a political upheaval and eventually got out of him.
Prosecutors say 52-year-old Kim participated in a price-577,940; £ 428,000) of more than 800 million wins (£ 577,940; £ 428,000) in South Korea, a BMW dealer in South Korea, in the price-raging scheme associated with shares of Deutush Motors.
While this allegedly happened before her husband was elected the country’s leader, it continued to put a shadow during her presidency.
He allegedly accepted two channel bags and a diamond necklace as a bribe from the controversial integration church in lieu of business.
In other allegations, Kim is accused of paying attention to the nomination in 2022 parliamentary by-elections and nominations during the general election last year.
Kim attended the hearing wearing a black suit and a black skirt on Tuesday.
“I honestly apologize for creating trouble despite being a person without any importance,” he told reporters.
When he was the chairman, Yun vetoed three opposition-laid bills, seeking a special lawyer inquiry into the allegations against Kim.
He released the final veto in November a week before declaring martial law.
A special lawyer was established in June this year after Yun became the President of Yun’s rival Lee J. Mayung.
