The 22-year-old Redukanu lost 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 7-6 (7-5), as the champion Sabalenka extended the fight over three hours to reach the fourth round.
After pushing Sabalenka in Wimbledon, Redukanu further proofs was evidence that it could seriously test the world’s best as it continues to be revived.
In this season, the British number one has a large-scale behind the fitness issues and with the development of a new-found flexibility, she has climbed back to the top 40.
“As I said in Wimbledon, I am really happy to see him healthy – mentally and physically,” said Sabalenka.
“Every time she is improving and I can see that she is coming back in her best form.
“I am enjoying fighting against him – he is an incredible player.”
Redukanu can be sown among the leading 32 players at the upcoming US Open, which offers a more favorable draw at at least – Hard -Court Grand Slam – which he won in 2021 as a teenage qualifier.
Depending on this performance against Sabalanka, there are lots of positives for Redukanu to take in the last head of the season.
