Last call for open discount
The Live Golf Dallas presented by Aramco is the last tournament that is before determining that the live golf player will earn a discount in the next month’s open championship in the Royal Portrash.
In February, R&A announced its new merit category, using live golf season-live individual championship standing. Players with the highest ranked, otherwise not discounts, will get a place in the last head of the 2025 golf season within the top five of the standing after Dallas.
The top three players in the standing entering Dallas are already exempted – Jokin Neemon, Bryson Decombo and John Rahm.
The number 4 fireball in the standing is GC Sergio Garcia, which is not discount and will remove the hope of maintaining its position in the standing. Garcia is looking at Hong Kong to open his 26th in a major career, including two -time live golf winners, including winning early this year, and in the 102nd. Garcia has done 10 top -10 finishes at the open, including runner -up results in 2007 and 2014.
Sergio Garcia is expecting a discount in next month’s open championship with a strong performance in Dallas.
Standing stars seven points behind Garcia, in fifth place Ripper GC has Lucas Herbert. Herbert has made four open starts, including a tie for the 15th in 2022. She played an important role in helping winning the team championship in Marido last year.
In addition, Garcia has a Sebastian Munoz of torque within 10 points, the last appearance in the open in 2022. Munose has been one of the most consistent players in the league this season, with the top -20 finish among six of the eight tournaments. A year ago in Marido, he led all the players in the last round, shooting 64 on a course, which he is very familiar.
With 40 points given to a live golf individual winner, a total of 10 players are currently eligible to overtake Garcia in Standing without a discount – Herbert, Munoz, Dean Bermster, David Paig, Chark Shivartzel, Anirbhi Lahiri, Adrion Meronac, Thomas Peters, Talore Gauders Akar.
