Today a Memorial Assembly was organized, which was done by Thartia Kisan Union (BKU) Charuti to pay tribute to former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik in Jagadhri Grain Bazaar in Yamunnagar district, who had recently died. A large number of farmers from Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh were participated in a large number of farmers, it was led by BKU Charuti National President Garanam Singh Charuti. The farmers strongly criticized the BJP government to deny Satyapal Malik for denying the honor of the state, alleging that the decision was politically motivated. Speakers recalled that while serving as governors, Malik openly spoke against the policies of the BJP government, supported the farmers’ movement, and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to engage with the farmers directly opposing to resolve the movement. Malik also condemned the Pulwama terror attack and demanded a transparent inquiry, which, according to the leaders of the farmers, became the reason behind the government’s refusal to state honors after their death. “Any person who speaks for the nation and against the wrong policies of the government is branded as anti-national. The same happened to Satyapal Malik. He never spoke against the nation. Even Shaheed Bhagat Singh was given the status of martyrdom by the governments of that time” He demanded that the government immediately accepted the honor of the state to Malik, warned that if the demand was ignored, then the memorial meeting at every district headquarters would be organized as a mark of protest. Chauni said that it is the responsibility of the government to pay tribute to Satyapal Malik with full state honors. The Memorial ceremony was presided over by farmer leader Krishaan Pal Sudhal and witnessed participation from several political parties, who also opposed the policies of the government. The leaders announced that on 14 September, a United Memorial Program will be organized by all the farmers’ organizations in honor of Malik in Delhi. Prominent attendees include acting state president of BKU Karam Singh Mathana, District President Sanju Gundiana, women state president Suman Hooda, Manoj Nagar from Uttar Pradesh, Happy Harpal from Punjab, Krishna from Kuruksher, Krishna, Sonip, Vikaram Kasna, young state President Aishok Latav from Sonipat. Numberdar from Sirsa, Ranjit from Fatebad, Narendra Singh from Panchkula, and state media in -charge Sandeep Singoha.
