FBI agents raided Bethesda, MD at the house of former National Security Advisor John Bolton on Friday morning, marked a new tension point in their difficult relations with President Donald Trump. Agents also raided Bolton’s DC office.
The reason behind the raid was allegedly associated with investigating allegations that Bolton had sent classified documents to his family from a private email server while working in the White House. New York PostThe Post cited an official of the Trump administration, who said that FBI director Kash Patel ordered a raid.
The outlet also reported that the reference to a dispute on its memoir to install a pattern of behavior-to-still-to-detection warrant. However, a senior American official told The Post that the investigation was a “clean stop” from the investigation about Bolton’s book.

Shortly after the raid started, Patel wrote on X that “no one is above the law … [FBI] Agent on a mission. ,
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino shared the post and wrote, “Public corruption will not be tolerated.”
Bolton, who served in the first administration of Trump, has not been arrested or taken into custody. Trump canceled his security approval and secret service extension in January 2025.
Trump was asked about the raid on Friday and said he did not know about it ahead of time, claiming that he had seen it on television. The President then clarified his disdain for his former National Security Advisor.
“I am not a fan of John Bolton. He is a real low life,” Trump told reporters. He kept calling Bolton “not a smart man” and said “he could be very inconsistent.”

The President also said that Bolton “was a very quiet person except television, if he could say something bad about Trump.”
Vice -president JD Vance On Friday, “Meat the Press” told that “We are in the very early stages of the ongoing investigation in John Bolton.” Vance denied that Bolton was being targeted to criticize Trump.
The evidence used to justify a formula familiar with the Bolton raid and told Fox News Digital that “Bolton had some nerve to attack Trump to deal with actually classified information,” but would not give much details.

After the FBI raided the Mar-e-Lago in 2022, Bolton criticized Trump’s classified documents. Trump was later involved in 37 hooliganism cases, which expanded to 40 before leaving the case in July 2024.
During Trump’s first administration, an investigation of classified documents was initiated, but was later closed by the Biden administration. The Department of Justice argued that Bolton’s 2020 memoirs were included in “The Room Whore It Hand” and tried to block it by publishing it.

The FBI and Bolton’s office refused to comment on the case.
