Asked what they are concerned about illegal immigration, the largest number of voters says it overbird government programs (39%). Less concern is whether it leads to an increase in crime (16%) or terrorism (10%), works from American citizens (14%), or replaces the country’s culture (9%).
The concern about illegal immigration has moved somewhat to some extent compared to 15 years ago. At that time, by a margin of 10 points, a large part was concerned about economic issues such as overburding or taking away from the jobs from citizens (2010 vs 53% now 63%), and was concerned about increasing low crime (2010 vs 16% now 6%).
Meanwhile, prominences oppose elements related to immigration included in the new budget law, “a large beautiful bill”, as 55% are against increasing spending on the boundary wall and 59% oppose more spending at immigrant detention centers.
By a margin of 6 points, voters feel that the Republican Party is better to handle immigration than the Democratic party, and President Donald Trump’s best job ratings are at border security (56% approval, 44% rejection) and immigration (48%, 51%). Less voters approve foreign policy (45%, 54%), economy (44%, 55%), and inflation and tariffs (36%, 62%). Overall, 46% approved their job performance, while 54% rejection.
One reason is that Trump does so well on border security that 1 out of 5 Democrats have approved the work done – their highest rating on any issue. The same is independent which is more than half the approval, making border security their best issue.
