Features of Google’s favorite sources: what is it and how it works
On Tuesday, Google released a new blog post, which launched new favorite sources facilities on the search. This feature will allow users to customize their search results with their favorite sites within top stories. Therefore, instead of random search results based on algorithms, users can choose preferred websites, pages they follow, and can subscribe to the section of top stories.
Google said, “When you choose your favorite sources, you will start displaying more of their articles within top stories, when those sources have published fresh and relevant content for your discovery.”
Now, how does the feature actually work? Well, to start, search for a subject which is currently in the news. Now, click on the icon that is placed with the “top stories” section. Now, select your favorite sources for custom search results. Once you list the websites, fresh the page, and they will start popping up on top stories, even though their Google rankings.
Google also highlighted that users will also see the “from your sources” section just below the section of top stories. In this way, users can also detect other websites and manage their preferences for favorite sources. Google also ensures that users can select “many sources”, and there is no limit to the number. Apart from adaptation, it also gives news websites and publishers a chance to create reliability on their rivals, so that they are in the favorite list of their audience. This feature is currently rolling for users in the US and India.
