The statement continued, “We expect additional flight delays this evening to work through the issue. Security is our top priority, and we will work with our customers.
Technical issues are also affecting airports in Denver, Houston, San Francisco and Newark.
The video taken by a passenger in O’Ahre shows a line of united aircraft that have recently landed, which have recently landed, as no gates are available.
United also sent a text message to the passengers, stating, “Due to a technology outage, we temporarily hold some untold flights at their departure airports to manage the availability of gates at destination airports. This may be delayed in the evening as we work to solve the situation.”
Ground stops are only affecting united flights. Ground stops and resulting delay periods are not currently known.
