Pointing to urge Rahul Gandhi’s 2018 tweet and video for GST reforms and limiting the rate to 18%, the party said that PM Modi’s announcement only validated its long -run criticism of the current system.The party said, “For at least the last year and a half, the Congress party is demanding fundamental change in GST 2.0, and the government needs to take immediate action on it.”Party general secretary Jayer Ramesh said that the party had been demanding “GST 2.0” for more than one and a half years, and even included it as a major vow in the 2024 Lok Sabha manifesto.He said in a statement, “In the last seven years, the increased number of GST has been demonetisated by giving increased number and several discounts. The structure has also facilitated theft. There should be a huge reduction in the rates of rates,” he said in a statement that he had gone to demand an official discussion letter on GST 2.0.He said, “The Indian National Congress soon demands an official discussion letter on GST 2.0 to have an informed and widespread debate on this important and national issue,” he said.
