New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Wednesday that Lord Buddha’s holy Piparahwa remains returned to India after 127 years. He said that although the remains were discovered in 1898, he was taken out of the country during the colonial era. In a post on X, PM said, it is a happy day for our cultural heritage.He wrote, “It will make every Indian proud that the holy Piparahwa remains of Lord Buddha have come home after a long year. These sacred relics highlight India’s close association with the fifty Buddha of India and his great teachings. It also shows our commitment to preserve and protect various aspects of our magnificent culture.”PM Modi mentioned that when sacred remains came out in an international auction earlier this year, his government took steps to bring him back to India. “I appreciate all those who are involved in this attempt,” he said.
