New Delhi: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday expressed concern over the growing commercialization of healthcare and education while speaking at an event in Indore. He said that both areas, which are once considered to be the work of service, have now become ineffective and inaccessible for the common man.“Health and education are very important and earlier considered ‘Seva’ (service), but now both are beyond the reach of the common people. The two have been commercialized. They are neither cheap nor accessible,” Bhagwat said in an incident in Indore.Citing personal experience, Bhagwat recalled, “When I was a child, I had malaria and missed school for three days. My teachers came home, and brought the jungle herbs for my treatment. He was worried that the student who came to him should be healthy. Society requires accessible and affordable healthcare. ,Referring to cancer care, especially, he said, good cancer care is currently available in only 8–10 Indian cities, and emphasized the need for healthcare that does not become a source of concern for patients. He said, “We need low -cost, easily accessible medical care. Treatment should not change due to anxiety,” he said. Bhagwat also said that Western medical research cannot be implemented evenly worldwide due to regional and personal differences. He said, “One can benefit from Naturopathy, other, no method of homeopathy, no method can be supreme. Indian medical system treats individual needs,” he said.On the education front, he said that students still have to travel long distances for quality education, such as patients do for advanced healthcare.
