The Chandigarh-Manali National Highway was blocked after a landslide near Pandoh Dam in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Friday, started with heavy rains throughout the night, Annie described Mandi SP Shashi Verma.
A video shared by ANI depicts the highway with a landslide debris, which overturned on the site as the police assess the situation. Efforts are on to clean the area.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for heavy rains at isolated spots in the state in the coming four days.
A total of 291 roads are blocked
A total of 291 roads including Chandigarh-Manali National Highway (NH-21), have been closed for traffic in Himachal Pradesh due to recent rains.
According to the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), the blocks quoted by PTI are 171 seriously affected Mandi district, followed by 76 in Kullu district. By Thursday evening, 416 power distribution transformers and 219 water supply schemes have also been disrupted across the state.
Rain situation in Himachal
