SpiceJet employee Mudsir Ahmed, who was attacked by an army officer during a regular check -up at Srinagar Airport, reacted to the incident, saying that he was only conducting his regular checking when the army officer started shouting and assaulted him.
Ahmed was beaten and kicked by an army officer and was released with a spinal fracture after the incident.
Ahmed said, “He had two bags. I stopped him to check. As soon as I asked him, he started shouting.”
The incident occurred at Delhi at the boarding gate of Flight SG-386. Troubled the video footage of the alleged attack came out online on Sunday, causing public outrage and response to the Indian Army.
What SpiceJet Staff said
Recalling the incident to news agency Annie, Mudseer Ahmed said, “He hit me on my face with stuff. He slapped me and started killing me. He used his fist and legs to kill me … Finally, he punched me and I fell.”
He said, “I told him that the weight of his hand was 16 kg and he is carrying two bags, while only one, 7 kg weight is allowed. I told him that he would have to pay for additional goods. He started shouting again,” he claimed.
Ahmed then called his duty manager, who also explained the goods policy of the airline. Ahmed said, “He (passenger) pushed the CISF staff and entered the boarding gate, which is not allowed. The CISF staff brought him back.”
The situation went ahead at the boarding gate. Ahmed said, “He took out some things from his bag and threw him on a member of the staff … They hit me with the rest of the goods … they hit me and used legs.”
What did the Indian Army say
In a statement released on Saturday, the Indian Army admitted the incident and said it was cooperating with the officials investigating the matter.
The army said, “The case of alleged involvement between army personnel and airline employees at Srinagar Airport on 26 July 2025 came into notice of the Indian Army,” the army said.
It said, “The Indian Army is committed to maintaining the highest standards of discipline and conduct and takes all the allegations seriously. The investigation of the case is being increased to the authorities.”
Another statement of the army headquarters stated that the force is “fully committed to maintain discipline and mutual respect in all civilian places across the country.”
SpiceJet says four employees attacked
SpiceJet confirmed that four of its employees were injured during the alleged attack on Srinagar Airport and needed to be hospitalized.
According to the airline’s statement, “Employees were attacked with punches, frequent kicks, and a queue stand. An employee fainted, but the passenger kicked the unconscious employee. The other was bleeding from the nose and mouth after a kick while trying to help the other.”
One of the injured allegedly suffered a spinal fracture, while another serious jaw injuries.
