Air travelers may soon see another change while passing through security posts at airports, suggests with Homeland’s Security Secretary Christie Nom, suggesting that current TSA restrictions on fluids in the carry-on bags may change.
Possible changes in policies around the carrying fluid on flights comes after NOEM on 8 July No longer need to remove your shoes Regular TSA during security check. This change immediately came into force.
Speaking at a conference hosted by The Hill on Wednesday, Nom said that he is questioning “everything TSA” and talked about possible changes in the amount of fluids, passengers can be tricked into their carry-on goods. currently TSA GuidancePassengers can carry 3.4 ounces (100 ml) in their carry-on bag or fluid in a trip-shaped containers per item.
“Liquids, I am inquiring. So this next major announcement may be what shape your fluids need,” Nom said. “We have made it to a multi -level screening process in TSA, which allows us to change some of the safety and screening, so it is still equally safe.”
He did not give any details properly what those changes can be or how soon passengers can expect to see them.
Passengers should usually empty or throw their water bottles before passing through the TSA checkpoint, or pack containers with more than 3.4 ounces of liquid in their checked goods. There are exceptions to drugs and baby formulas.
TSA has been searching for the issue of fluid for years, former TSA administrator John Pistol told CBS News’ Chris Van Cleave earlier this month. TSA is installing new calculations tomography, or CT, checkpoint scanner at airports, which produces a 3-D image of a bag content and can automatically detect other possible safety threats.
When were fluids restricted on aircraft?
The fluid rules on flights were a reaction to an incident in 2006 in which authorities used liquid explosives aboard carry-on goods to fly the aircraft.
Ever since the guidelines were adopted, the TSA checkpoints quickly dropped the passengers in the water, digging through the luggage and finding a large tube of hair gel, and to surprise everything from jam to coffee, which did not meet the need for size.
Rules also triggered innumerable discussions – sometimes argument – on forming a liquid. Curd? peanut butter? Jam and jelly? Currently all containers are limited to containers, which is not widely larger than a wide list of 3.4 ounces, which TSA has placed on its website, titled “What can I do?”
Noam also kept his vision for the future of the airport visit during the talk on Wednesday.
“Hopefully, the future of an airport, where I want to go, is that you walk to the door with your carry-on suitcase, you walk through a scanner and go right for your aircraft,” he said. “You take a minute.”
