If the jailed clerk can lose job, why not PM ‘: In Bihar rally, Modi lodged in jail
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday defended the recently introduced Constitution Amendment Bill in Parliament, which gives the Center the power to dismiss the minister who went to jail.
Speaking at a rally in Gayji, Bihar, PM Modi said that if a government employee is jailed for 50 hours, he is suspended from his jobs. He asked why a similar rule should not be applicable to PM, CM or ministers.
“… if a government employee is imprisoned for 50 hours, he is automatically suspended, whether it is a driver, clerk or peon. But a CM, a minister, or even a PM can enjoy living in the government from jail … Some time ago, we saw how the files were being given from the jail and if the leaders can get a ravery, how can we get the rally in the rally.” Said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday introduced three bills in the lower house, including the Constitution (one hundred and thirty -thirty amendments) Bill, 2025. The bill tries to remove the Prime Minister or Chief Ministers to withstand allegations of corruption or serious crime if they remain in custody for 30 days continuously.
Shah also introduced the government of Center Region (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Since these bills allow action on the basis of allegations only without the need for a perfect crime, the opposition has violated them the constitution.
The reference to JPC, which was already on the government’s agenda, raised a major uproar in the Lok Sabha as Shah demanded a table of bills.
