Hackers stole individual information about the majority of 1.4 million customers of the insurance firm Eliyanz Life in North America, its original company said.
“On July 16, 2025, a malicious danger actor reached a third-party, cloud-based CRM system used by Eliyanz Life Insurance Company (Allianz Life) in North America,” Elianz said in a statement to the BBC.
The German -origin company stated that hackers “were able to obtain individually identified data related to most customers, financial professionals, and Eliyanz Life employees using social engineering technology”.
According to the company, the data breech belonged only to Allianz Life.
The insurance giant revealed the data breech in the legal filing with the Attorney General in the US State of Main.
It was not specified how many people were affected.
In the statement, the insurance company said that it had taken “immediate action” to include the violation and informed the FBI.
It states that “there was no evidence that the Eliyanz Life Network or other company systems were accessed with our policy administration system”.
Allianz – which has more than 125 million customers globally – said that it was in the process of contacting and assisting individuals affected by data violations.
A social engineering cyber-havoc occurs when hackers pressurized or tricked users to give sensitive information, such as by replicating a reliable company or person.
