Former “Empire” star Jui Smallet said that he felt “extremely excreted” by receiving support after coming forward with allegations of his attack.
In Netflix documentary “The Truth About Jussian Smallet?” Smallet talked about the messages read on social media after claiming to be a racial and homophobic attack in January 2019.
In the documentary, there was a news of the messages of A-Listers like Viola Davis and John Legend, as well as the then Vice President Joe Biden’s messages, who said, “Homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or our hearts. We are with you, Jui.”

“There was a moment when I went on social media, and I felt as if I was getting eulogized,” said Smolal. “I felt as if I was dead, and I was alive to see – and the people who were saying were so kind, but it was too much for me.”
“This made me very uncomfortable, embarrassed me very much. It made me feel very spectacular,” he continued.
Later, in the documentary, Smallet attempted to stop the questions roaming around the dispute time, in which he refused to hand over his phone to the police, which he said he also asked to hide his drug use, as well as walking around 2 am. He claimed that he “always did so.”

As it turned out, it was a deception. Police said Smallet revolved around the attack, hired two Nigerian brothers to assault him while wearing a red cap. The smolet was later charged and convicted for his crimes against the city of Chicago, but was excluded from jail only six days in a 150 -day sentence.
The smolet sentence was later overturned in 2024, and the actor reached an agreement with the city of Chicago in May. Smallet denied the allegations that he focused on a hatred crime and stood by his story.
