Despite being suffering from two hamstring tears this year, which delayed his season-owner four weeks before the World Championship, Hodgkinson has not wasted any time to recreate himself as a favorite for sleeping in Tokyo.
The two -time world silver medalist announced his comeback in strong fashion in Poland over the weekend, watched the fastest time of 2025 – and the ninth fastest in history – 1: 54.74.
This was only 0.13Secs short during his lifetime – the British record he went under the leadership of his amazing Olympic victory in the Last year’s London Diamond League.
Hodgkinson told the BBC World Service Sport, “I could not say for a better start, I am a shock.”
“I take a really difficult training for such moments, but when it all comes together it makes it extra special.”
Speaking at the Tuesday’s news conference, Hodzkinson teased that she was going even faster in the Lauzance as she demanded to improve her race-day sharpness.
Whereas the conditions were stopped on Wednesday evening, Hodgekinson once again proved a class over his competition as he had clearly operated on the final lap to claim another commanding victory.
“Trever [Painter – her coach] A few weeks ago, I told me, ‘You are really ahead of the schedule, I wanted you to stay here as long as we are in Tokyo’ – so it’s amazing to be here now.
“Hopefully we can stay healthy and build on top of what we have received, and see what can happen.”
