New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to release the film “Udaipur files”, which was a day before its delayed premiere. A bench, including Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, dismissed a petition demanding to stop the release of the film, stating that the petitioner had failed to submit a prima facial case to fulfill such an order.“The producer has invested his life savings in the film, and stopping its release will disrupt the balance of convenience. Since the film has already been certified by the Censor Board and its exhibition is unlikely to influence any ongoing test, we are unable to give a migration,” said the bench cited by PTI.This came a day after the Information Ministry and the Ministry of Broadcasting dismissed all amendments challenging the certification of the film. “Udaipur Files” is based on the murder of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan in June 2022.During the hearing, senior advocate Maneka Guruswami, petitioner attended for Mohammad Javed – An accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case – said that the release of Udaipur files would compromise his right to test impartial testing. Guruswami said, “The right to a fair testing is paramount. Witnesses are yet to be investigated, and the release of the film has prejuded the proceedings.” “The dialogues have been removed directly from the charge sheet. The title refers to Kanhaiya Lal murder. All this will affect the lawsuit.” Opposing the petition, the government lawyer said that the film was approved to release the film as a law, stating that the authorities “implemented their minds” by providing certification.
