New Delhi: Congress on Friday intensified Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticism and referred to Rahul Gandhi’s 2018 allegations against industrialist Anil Ambani, which is currently under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a loan fraud.Congress MP Manikam Tagore took for X and pointed to Rahul Gandhi’s previous allegations, where he accused PM Modi and Anil Ambani of “Surgical Strike of Rs 1,30,000 crore on the Indian Defense Forces”.“In 2018, my leader warned the nation: ‘PM and Anil Ambani jointly conducted a surgical strike of Rs 1,30,000 crore on the Indian defense forces … You cheated the soul of India.” Many people laughed. “Ed has now called Anil Ambani in a case of loan fraud of Rs 17,000 crore, a few days after the raid on his premises. The same Anil Ambani, whose debt-affected firm was selected for the Rafael Offset deal-instead of-he said.The Enforcement Directorate has called Ambani Ambani to appear in front of its Delhi headquarters on 5 August. According to agency sources, his statement will be recorded under the prevention of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA).There is a summons amidst an ongoing ED investigation in allegations of bribery and issuing unprotected loans associated with industrialist.Meanwhile, the ED is also searching for a fake bank guarantee racket in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata. The agency filed an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) on November 11, 2024 based on the case registered by the Economic Offenses Wing of Delhi Police.Earlier, the agency conducted a coordinated raids regarding financial irregularities and allegedly turned over Rs 10,000 crore in loans by various group companies associated with Ambani.According to ED sources, the investigation mainly revolves around the alleged turn of about Rs 3,000 crore in the loan expanded by Ambani’s companies between 2017 and 2019.Officials said the discoveries covered more than 35 places in Mumbai, spreading 50 companies and 25 persons. The Delhi -based ED unit is leading the investigation under the PMLA.
