A dozen “incredibly thoughtless” drivers who were caught filming a deadly accident scene on the M1 motorway have been approached by a police force.
The Northamptonshire police said that 12 motorists were seen using a mobile phone to do the film after the accident and later notices of the prosecution of desired prosecution were sent.
On May 3, M1 was Partly Junction closed between 14 and 15 While emergency services attended a collision, a driver died.
Police said notices of prosecution of prosecution were sent to another 10 drivers to fail to comply with a red X on a closed lane.
PC Tom Williams of Rhodes Policing Team of Northamptonshire Police said: “Filming any road traffic collision is not only dangerous, but incredibly thoughtless when you are running, so I am happy to prosecute these people.
“Such conflicts remain forever. They destroy families and friends and so it is completely inappropriate and abusive for other road users to film the site of any confrontation.
“I hope this matter shows the seriousness with which we take such crimes and take better decisions while crossing the road traffic collision in the future.”
