First on Fox – American Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials allegedly appointed a Jamaica National as a reserve police officer in the middle of the Old Orchard Beach and arrested a Jamaica National for illegally buying a gun.
According to the enforcement and removal operations of the Ice in Boston, John Luke Evans was taken into custody with the help of alcohol, tobacco, firearm and explosives (ATF) after an attempt to purchase his fireplace tied to his immigration status on 25 July at Biddeford.
Federal officials say Evans legally entered the United States on 24 September 2023 through the Miami International Airport, under a visa, which required him to leave until October 1, 2023. He failed to leave as required and remained in the country since then.
During the investigation, Evans allegedly claimed that he was trying to buy a gun for use in his role with the Old Orchard Beach Police Department.

ICE officials are now questioning how a person was hired by a local police agency without a valid immigration situation and possibly issued a weapon issued by a department.

The Old Orchard Beach Police Department told Fox News Digital that Evans was hired as a seasonal officer in May and had to undergo a full background investigation, physical and medical screening and law enforcement training.
As part of the hiring process, the department presented its employment documents to DHS through the federal e-verified system. According to the police, DHS confirmed the eligibility to work for the Evans, and their Employment Authority document showed the end date of March 2030.
Police Chief Elis Chord said, “Our department and our community trusted the department of the e-verified program of Homeland Security, so that we can ensure that we are fulfilling our obligations.” “We are distressed and deeply concerned about this clear error from the federal government.”
The main is one of the about a dozen states that allow non-citizens to serve in law enforcement with legitimate work permits. In Old Orchard Beach, there are reserve officers seasonal employees who work with community patrolling and do not take the fire scriptures issued by the department or do not carry personal weapons while on duty.
The probation status of the Evans is currently subject to reviews, and the department has initiated an internal investigation to evaluate the protocol on its work and ensure compliance with all federal and state laws.

Evans’ arrest follows a similar case since April, in which ICE officials detained another illegal immigrant law enforcement employee in Falmouth, Main.
