Scientists have said that a meteorite that has crashed in a house in America is older than Earth.
The object flew through the sky in a wide day light before exploding in the state of Georgia on 26 June, NASA confirmed.
Researchers at the University of Georgia examined a piece of rock, which pierced the roof of a house in the city of McDono.
They found that, depending on the type of meteorite, it is expected to be formed more than four billion years ago, making it chronic from the Earth.
Residents of Georgia and nearby states reported hundreds of vision and loud bounce when the fireball tore through the sky.
The rock quickly decreased in size and speed, but still passed through a man’s roof in Henry County, traveled at least 1 km per second.
Several pieces of collision to the building were handed over to scientists, who analyzed their origin.
Scott Harris, a geologist at the University of Georgia, said, “This especially meteorite entered the atmosphere, before it reached McDono’s land,”.
Using optical and electron microscopy, Harris and his team determined that rock was a chondrite – the most abundant stony meteorite, According to NASA – Which meant that it was about 4.5 billion years old.
The resident of the house said that he is still looking for pieces of space dust around his house by hit.
The object, named McDono Meteorite, is the 27th to be recovered from Georgia.
Harris said, “This is something that was expected once every few decades and not many times within 20 years,” Harris said.
“Modern technology, apart from a vigilant public, is going to help us fix more and more meteorites.”
Harris is hoping to publish its findings at the composition and speed of asteroid, which will help understand the danger of further asteroids.
“There will be an opportunity to one day, and we never know when it is going to happen, to hit a hits for something big and create a terrible situation. If we can protect against him, we want,” he said.
