Democratic Socialist and Meerl Hopyl Umar Fateh of Miniapolis says that his first priority in the office will protect illegal immigrants from President Donald Trump’s “hostile federal government”.
Fateh made a statement during an interview with a car 11 news in Minnesota, doubled his identity as a member of the Democratic Socialist of America, but is “radical”, denying his policies.
“One day, if you were chosen, what will be some of your top two or three preferences for the city?” The reporter asked in an interview aired on Friday.
“First I would say that there will be a hostile federal government, not only with Donald Trump in the office, but he is essentially a triafeca with both the Congress and the Supreme Court.

The candidate said that public safety would be his second priority, but he refused to support the Democratic Socialist Forum to completely eliminate the police.
“This is not going to happen, of course,” Fateh said about elimination. “What we imagine is a public safety system that works for everyone, and means that we have a accountable police force and a police force that is an important part of our public safety system, but ensuring that we get a proper response when we call 911.”
Fateh argued that half of the 911 calls in Miniapolis “does not need to answer with armed officers.” He argued that money should be directed to social workers and others who can reply to such calls instead.
Fateh received the support of the Democratic-Fmper-Labber Party for the Democratic Party in Minnesota in July. The party also supported him on the supporting mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat. FRE is running for a third term and has decided to stay in the race.
Some have dubbed Fateh to “Mamdani of Miniapolis”, referring to Zoharan Mamdani, a candidate from New York City. Both immigrants are children, who are with Somalia from Uganda and Fateh from Mamdani.

Fateh has previously vowed that, if the mayor is elected, he will increase the minimum wage of the city, increase the supply of affordable housing, and he will combat police violence. Similar to Mammadani, Fateh asks to change some of the duties of the police department with options led by the community. He also wants to issue legal IDs to unspecified immigrants.
