Defense lawyer for convict killer Alex Murdha said that newly exposed evidence of jury molestation could be sufficient to discredit South Carolina’s murder sentence.
Dick Harputlian told Fox News Digital, an attorney in Columbia and former state senator, who leads Murdhag, that during the 2023 double murder trial, the coal of the works of Court Becky Hill stained the jury and launched a new lawsuit.
“If he had left the jury alone, we would have clearly done the worst,” said Harputlian. “There were two gamblers – two – who were not guilty, it was not for the influence of Becky Hill.”
Murdow was convicted of the killings of his wife Maggi Murdow, and son, Paul Murdow, who was shot dead on 7 June 2021 in a family -victim property at Koleton County, South Carolina. During the commission of a violent crime in March 2023, he was convicted in two cases of murder and two cases of weapon occupation.

Harputlian stated that a gambling dubbed “egg lady”, was vocal about its doubt in the jury room and was rejected a few days before the decision based on the information provided by the hill. Another gambling allegedly stated in defense that he was pressurized to vote guilty by Hill and other gamblers.
Raksha alleged that Hill tried to sell more copies of a book to the jury, which she was writing about high-profile trials.
“He told many of his colleagues that the decision of a convict would be good for the sale of the book,” said Harputlian. “She was working to impress them to convict them.”
The hill has been accused of lying in the office of misconduct, hindrance in justice and allegedly influenceing Murdo jury, leaking seal evidence and lying under the oath during the 2024 hearing.
During a clear hearing of 2024, the Chief Justice of a retired South Carolina Supreme Court ruled that the hill was not reliable and found that he had attempted to influence the jury’s ideas.

Murdag is currently appealing for his sentence before the South Carolina Supreme Court. The brief description of the state is due to August 8, and Harputlian said that a decision may come in the end of the year or early 2026.
“We have an appeal based on judicial errors and jury tampering,” said Harputlian.
Many believe that we have enough chance to get a new test.

If the appeal fails, Raksha has planned to pursue a federal captive petition.
“If we do not get a new test, there is something that is called a habase or post-composition relief. And if you find that police or prosecutors have hidden evidence that can make a difference, you can appeal on the basis,” said Harputlian.

In addition to the allegations of jury-chesting, Harputlian also pointed to new open text messages between Murdow and Curtis “Eddie” Smith, alleged drug dealer of Murgh, which may have changed the trajectory of defense strategy if they were revealed.
Message revealed by TitsnewsAs of June 7, 2021, Smith and Murdo show Smith and Murdo in the days after the killings of Murd’s wife and son. Harputlian said that his team was unaware of the texts during the test and perhaps Smith was called as a witness he knew.
“Those texts – a lot of weeks of murder – tell us more to the surrounding drug distribution,” he said. “Maybe it made a difference between calling us on the stand or not calling him to the stand.”

Text messages suggest that Smith and Murdow interacted in the leading days to kill their wife and son on their family’s hunting property at Koleton County, South Carolina.
Smith read Murdo to Murdo on June 3, “Hey brother, I need to get Chik (SIC).

Murdo replied that he would return that afternoon and “had to deal with some bull — this morning.”
“Okay brother, just give me a hole,” Smith read, later adding, “Now leave home.”
A day before the murders, Murdow textted Smith, “Call me back.”
Within two minutes after the murder, Smith read to Murdow, “Tell me that what I heard is not true,” and, “Call me please.”
Those texts became uncontrolled, and around 6:30 pm, and Smith cryptly recited Murdo “on fishing hole”.
Even after that message was met with silence, he read, “803 *** ** 13 It will not go on my phone.”

Harputlian also questioned why Smith was not prosecuted, called it “shocking” and “unjust”.
“Eddie Smith, according to the Attorney General, is probably the largest distributors of oxicopt in the history of the state – and have not been sued,” he said. “Everyone, who was convicted – except Eddie Smith.”
The defense counsel also criticized South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who claims that she called Hill a “Becky Boo” during the trial.
Harputlian said Wilson’s relationship with Hill is a conflict of interests and urged him to reuse himself with any future investigation in his conduct. Fox News has reached Wilson’s office for digital comment.
“There should be a grand jury test in the conduct of Becky Hill,” he said. “But AG has not opened one. Perhaps he is waiting to see what the Supreme Court does.”

If the court provides a new test, Harputlian said that it would be “a very different case.”
Since Murdo has already blamed for financial offenses, the prosecution will no longer be able to present the weeks of financial evidence.
“Whatever will be left is forensic evidence and fact,” he said. “And forensic evidence, I believe, excessive proves that Alec Murd did not kill Paul and Maggi.”
