The son of a couple arrested in Iran has said that it is “unbearable” that he could not talk to his parents in more than 200 days.
Joe Bennett said that the Foreign Office told him that he could call Lindsay and Craig Foreman last week, but it did not happen after “anticipating night sleep”.
A spokesman for a foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said that he was “deeply concerned” with the case and kept raising it directly with the Iran government.
Mr. and Ms. Foreman were arrested by Iranian officials in January, while on the world “once a lifetime” journey.
Since then, he has been accused of espionage – some refuses the family.
‘Unclear assurance’
Mr. Bennett says that the family has not spoken to its 52-year-old parents who are from East Sussex, as they were arrested.
“We do not know with their state, their state of mind, or even certainty that they are alive.
“We are vague assurances through all the officers,” he said.
Mr. Bennett described the situation as unbearable and directly called Prime Minister Sir Kir Stmper and Foreign Secretary David Lemy to intervene on his behalf.
“This is a weight that a family should not tolerate,” he said.
Scottish National Party MP Brendon O’Hara, Vice-Chairman of Sarva-Paralynary Group for arbitrary detention and mortgage matters (APPG), was earlier stated that the BBC couple were “innocent victims of a geopolitical power struggle” between the BBC couple “between the western states and Iran, which they preferred to be compared to the” molding chips “.
He pointed to the case of British-Irani-Irani citizen Nazanin Zagri-Ratklif, who was hostage by the Iranian government for six years to pressurize the UK to pay a loan of multi-military pounds for a long time.
