Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has authorized around 2,000 National Guard soldiers and Airmen to be armed with Washington, DC, if their mission is required, an American official confirmed Fox News.
A US defense officer told Fox News, “Under the direction of the Defense Secretary, JTF-DC members who support the mission to reduce the crime rate in our country’s capital will soon be on mission with their service-zari weapons to suit their missions and training.”
The soldiers could start carrying weapons in the coming days. This step comes when the Trump administration cracks the crime in the country’s capital.
