“The Navy Department should ensure that public affairs resources are aligned for readiness, standards and discipline, and rapid decision making,” the memo says.
From now on, any citizen should be approved by the Navy’s Chief Information (CHINFO) or Marine Corps Communications Directorate (CD) to hire public affairs. Contracts for media and messaging support will also be placed in a system so that commands in the fleet can use the same procedure.
