The National Crime Agency (NCA) investigated the allegations that police officers of South Yorkshire sexually abused children in Roderham.
The BBC explained in July in July how five women were exploited by preparing gangs as the children have also misused by police officers in the city in the early 2000s in the 1990s.
The South Yorkshire police initially stated that he would look at the claims, but later faced a call to withdraw from investigation in the interests of transparency.
The NCA said that it would ensure that “the victims remain in the heart of this investigation”.
According to the force, three former police officers have been arrested so far in connection with the allegations.
Assistant chief constable Hele Bharnet said that the force had requested that the NCA handled the investigation.
He said: “The concerns around the manner of investigation have failed to align with the force in the center of the story, and not the victims, and it really align with the afflicted-centered investigation.
“I am also focusing on the fact that there is a chance that some victims can suffer in silence and may be reluctant to create a report as a result of SYP participation.
Professor Alexis J, who led the 2014 landmark report, revealed the scale of the scam, told the BBC that he was “surprised” that the force was investigating its former officials.
